Asset Business Consulting provides consulting services to entrepreneurs, business executives and business owners. The consulting process helps clients to uncover the key issues they are facing. Once the key issue is discussed and selected, the client and coach build a plan to work on that issue, based on an hour a week of telephone meetings. During these meetings, the coach will discuss the issue with the client using a series of questions, designed to drill down into the issue and determine what may be holding the client back.
Some of the issues that we find to be typical deal with the following topics:
- I am having difficulty with existing staff positions and promotions
- The business has grown as much as possible and it may have hit it’s limit of success
- I am looking to expand the business but don’t feel ready to go national or global
- I have an opportunity to assume a new mgmt role but lack confidence
- I have to let an employee go but am struggling with this decision
- The business needs a new owner but I am not sure I’m ready to sell
- I have so many personal influences that impact the business and can’t seem to find enough time
- I’m not sure if I need a coach or a consultant
- I have difficulty planning which leaves my staff in need of direction

The process is meant to focus on the issue and help the client look forward to bringing it to resolution. In effect, the result we are looking for is the moment when the client has a breakthrough and becomes clear on the issue. There are triple-loop questions that are helpful in working through most issues:
- Why do you think this issue is posing problems for your company or yourself?
- How do you think it will feel when you resolve the issue that weighs on your business?
- What is holding you back from taking the necessary steps to resolve the issue?
A coach can help by asking the questions and then standing back and listening to your responses. If the consulting sessions seems to be going around in a circle, the coach can escalate the questions to help with clarity. A good coach is not a mentor or a consultant as these roles have different purposes. They are there to provide important questions and to help you (the client) reach a position on the issue that can lead to sustainable resolution.
