We have worked out of home office spaces for some time now, having been home-based for the past 20 years. It does require a greater mindset change than the traditional bricks and mortar companies and it needs a different approach. One of the long-term contracts we took on many years ago with a New York-based company. They had us build over twenty websites in a variety of states. They are serial entrepreneurs and had us build sites that focused on playground equipment and surfacing, a fireplace retail store and an importing company that brought products in from China. At age 73 in 2017, the owner was ready to retire. We miss their entrepreneurial spirit when they decided to retire to help their grown and married kids raise families. They have inspired me personally and to our staff because they made it work successfully.
I also have worked extensively with a franchise that was home-based. They had over 1000 locations in North America, 15 locations world-wide and focused on the education market. Their franchisees work from home offices because they typically visit families at their homes, at universities or libraries and are in their vehicle most of the time. The franchise provides extensive training to new owners about working out of the home. Asset Business Consulting provided lead generation and lead-handling support, website designs, social media campaigns and Branding expertise. We worked with owners across the USA and Canada and even helped new owners launch in the UK.
It is very satisfying to guide new business owners with our own background and we have a lot of empathy with the issues they deal with in the home-based franchise environment.
